Well said and great use of analogies and examples. Especially, the one of photography. I use ai sometimes, and just personal preference I like to hand draw and further edit images I make. Mostly because I haven’t made the leap into paying for anything just yet. I like how AI can help collect my thoughts at times and get me moving towards a finished piece I am happy with.

Sampled music was hotly debated in its time. These arguments will fade. All creative endeavors are art.

Personally I believe that Western Art History is a 2000 year-old struggle between the authoritarianism of the Church vs. the will of the people. Where would we be if Bach wasn’t arrested? If DADAISM didn’t hold up the mirror to war mongers? If Motown didn’t break the color line? So play on … Art is what we leave behind to document the time.

And now...we are Biological Intelligences. One shortish read (Machinery) and a two-chapterish one (Evolve)...let me grab links for ease.

I find I have to use AI art for my short stories here probably 75% of the time because I could spend hours searching for images to convey my short stories and they don’t quite hit the Mark, but by using the AI prompt on this site, I get nice choices that convey it; they have a comical edge to it that goes with my comedy.

Yeah, I agree. AI is like a dream come true for most people who actually earn a living by creating art. In our specific case, we can create art in seconds that fits perfectly for any article about any topic.

That's why so many writers who write for a living now use AI art to make their articles more appealing to readers, and ultimately more profitable.

Human made art is born of passion, love, heartbreak, anger, hatred, loss, hope, dreams, etc. It has soul that speaks to the depths of other humans that surpasses language barriers and brings us closer to understanding one another as a species.

AI can only mimic those emotions, and while it might stir reactions in people, it's not to the same degree. It can't know the feel of the wind on its face. It can't know the awe inspiring horror of an approaching storm. It can't know the vast magnitude of standing on the moon and looking up at the Earth. It can't know the helplessness, hopelessness, or loneliness of struggling with mental illness. It can't know love found and then love lost. All it knows are zeros and ones, and how humans like to see those sequenced to be appealing to them in any way.

Without art, are we even human? Without art, what's the point of us at all?

I have a question. How can this art be from the authnentic self when AI has no self? I love art by many different artists througout time not sure I care for this type of art.

Most artists can't make a living from their art. They need a day job, just like most actors and most musicians. Only a lucky few are able to make enough money with their art to live off of it.

And most well-paying art jobs are commercial art. Making ads for a local shoe store in the neighborhood newspaper. Or designing the wrapper of a candy bar or the label on a yogurt cup.

That's the art that pays your bills. And AI is doing a better job and will replace commercial artists.

Whether you think only human created art is real art is a matter of opinion. Art is in the eye of the beholder. AI can create better art than humans. That's why AI is being used by ad agencies, movie studios, video game developers, and music producers.

Sooner or later there will be an AI-created song that's a bigger hit than Taylor Swift's most popular song, because AI will be able to compute what type of song is the most popular around the world, and has the best chances of becoming a commercial success.

I disagree AI does not create better art.I am giving my opinion I do not care for the art.In fact human art prices are going up because of AI.I guess thats one benefit.I know this only because I sell art as well.
