What does this have to do men as a whole? One guy was being an idiot and the other stood his ground, gave him multiple chances to back off and walk away, then had to defend himself and his woman. This makes me proud to be a man if anything.
He is a Trump supporter, so to the extent his brain is able to function, it already either has a severe frontal cortex malfunction or it isn't frequently put to use.
For example, this is a skinny dude who decided to harass a random couple, and then engaged in unprovoked verbal attacks against the couple, clearly using his body in a manner that was meant to get in the man's personal space and intimidate them. He used his body to push against the man in a clear attempt to get the man to either respond violently or physically retreat. The first time he did that, the man did step back and placed the woman behind him so that he could use his body as a barrier to shield her, and he placed his body into a clearly defensive posture. That move clearly communicated that he believed the man might be a physical threat. But the skinny idiot couldn't take that small concession and let it go, or simply stick to verbal threats. He decided to engage in exactly the same type of physical behavior and uninvited body contact that had caused the man to previously demonstrate was being viewed as threatening, or at least to the woman he was attempting to protect. Anyone with half a brain would have read those signs and known to stop before he got hit, but this skinny guy clearly WANTED to provoke the physical aggression, never seeming to notice that there was a significant size different or that while the man he was harassing was already placing himself in a grounded defensive posture, while he was leaving his entire body unguarded. To make things worse, when the man threw the first punch and was clearly giving him a choice of whether to continue to fight or back down, the first guy decided to completely ignore the evidence that the man he was harassing not only would fight, but was a strong and capable fighter, and make the choice to throw a punch that was clearly amateurish and that he likely was not yet seeing straight enough to properly aim, which removed his chance to walk away feeling embarrassed but without further damage, and made the choice that was guaranteed to received a violent response.
A person with a brain, even if stupid enough to start harassing random people based solely on personal prejudice, would have recognized warning signs and taken one of the many opportunities available to prevent the possibility of personal violence (or escalated violence). He didn't. BUT I am sure he will try to make the argument that it was unprovoked because he kept his hands in his pockets. As if repeatedly and purposely invading the personal space of someone and engaging in clearly intentional and aggressive (in the context) physical contact cannot possibly be enough provocation for a person to engage in his right to use defensive violence to protect himself and his companion.
Wanna bet this will be the first guy to start screaming how a race-based murder is justified because of "stand your ground"?

In most US jurisdictions you cannot be awarded anything for emotional distress without also demonstrating that you suffered a tangible harm as result of a person's intentional attempt to harm or illegal conduct. (There are exceptions to this, but those are cases where the high likelihood of extreme harm to emotional/mental health was part of the intent, clearly foreseeable, etc...., and the harm is extreme enough to reasonably require extensive mental health treatment and to significantly impact the quality or functions of life. In other words, nothing applicable here.)
While the illegal conduct does not need to be criminal, it needs to be linked to a clear tort, breach of contract, or existing regulation. Here, the only possible tangible harm would be injuries from being punched, and those punches were all thrown by someone attempting to protect himself or another from a reasonably perceived threat of bodily harm. Since the other guy's actions was a legal act and was a reasonable (and foreseeable) response to the skinny guy's own illegal actions, he wouldn't have any tangible harm so he couldn't sue for emotional damages.
On the other hand, the latina couple were attempting to peacefully shop in a store open to the public, were illegally harassed (likely amounting to assault) and could reasonably argue that it caused fear and emotional distress (as can be seen by their facial expressions). They can also state that they now feel anxiety whenever going out in public. Certainly sounds to me like a lawsuit for emotional distress!

They instead perceive the white guy as “The hero helping to harass the invading migrants, and keep America for the whites!”, so they all silently stare while hoping the white guy wins and shows the Latino man “who is truly boss around these parts!”. You can read it in the comments here that others know that if the police showed up, the Latino would be arrested for defending himself.
